Trier - Visit the Porta Nigra, Roman Baths, the Ampitheatre and the Dom. Also the MarktPlatz is a nice place to stride and shop. And you must try the ice cream in that. YUM.
Koln (Cologne) The Dom - wonderfully beautiful and intricate cathedral.; Imhoff-Stollwerk SchocolatdenMuseum...it's right on the Rhein and is amazing shows how chocolate is made from the bean to the store...lots of yummy chocolates to buy and a chocolate fountain to example! Just walk around Koln, look at the bridges and beware during Carnival (which is coming up soon!) because it get crazy then.
Dachau - outside of Munchen (Munich) and is the site of one of the worst concentration camp...it is definitely worth experiencing but is heartwrenching. Bergen-Belsen is another concentration military camp but in the NW module of Germany - it's where Anne Frank passed.
Schwangau & Neuschwanstein - Beautiful castle in Bavaria built by King Ludwig- interesting history trailing them.
Frankfurt - downtown is really interesting, but watch out for their Red Light District - Sacksenhausen (spelling). The zoo in attendance is nice if you're into that kind of article.
Follow the Fairy Tale Road from Bremer down past Hanau..follow the Brothers Grimm! I really like doing this and following the Rhein.
Go in the summer and call in the vineyards - Trier have some great ones in the Mosel River Valley!
Idar-Oberstein - diamond and nugget mines and a gorgeous church built into the rocks.
I could go on! We lived near for 4 years and traveled all over Germany!
But approaching someone else said, the exchange rate is horrible so if you're going to go, gross it worth your while and take pre-eminence of their great train systems! If you have any question, just msg me! :)
Augsburg
Neuschwanstein Castle
Rothenburg
Dinkelsbuhl
Berlin
Munich
Drive the Romantic Road to the Alps
Regensburg (Ratisbon). The Pope's city. But not because of that. It's an ancient Roman town, and you should see their stone bridge, the cathedral, and the river Danube. If you're not interested surrounded by ancient ruins, well, the river will be slightly enough to hold you. It's not as wide as the Misissippi, but for a European river, it's HUGE. Stuttgart, and the Neuschwanstein Castle.
Don't forget my striking city Berlin!
We have greatly of sightseeing events, many cultural and historical buildings and stories
Other cities (already mentioned) are Heidelberg (beautiful dated city) and Cologne (everyone has to call on the Dom once in his enthusiasm ;-))
Also nice: Munich, Dresden, Freiburg (black forest), Hamburg
Trier , it is the oldest city in Germany and it be built by the Romans about 2000 years ago, it is attractive !
http://www.bamjam.net/Germany/Trier.html I've been here 3 times on business and visited the entire country.
The best place to pop in in Germany is Castle Neuschwanstein. It funds Swan Rock. Its the most beautiful place within Germany and belive me I have see everything.
Check Point Charlie is a DUMP. Its dirty, graffitti everywhere and hoodlums run around looking for handouts -if they dont rob you. Berlin in standard is a DUMP. Not worth your time or money to go here.
Munich is nice and the only item worth seeing is the BMW museum and factory just finished.
Koln, or Colonge is where on earth all the gays are. Nothing to see unless as you would expect you are a homo.
The Rhine river is beautiful but don't bring stuck on a 2 hour tour. Its boring as hell! Rent a car and DIY.
The Black Forest is great. Many antediluvian homes and its just likje a fairytale.
Luebeck is ok if you approaching old intake places. Its old and historic but at hand is a reason it get no tourists- its boring and you can see as much on the internet.
In all, Germany is EXPENSIVE as hell especially next to the EURO being 1.50. IMO, Germany is not worth the call round. Check out Switzerland instead. Everything is better.
(And I am 100% german, both parents but live/born raised surrounded by America. They dislike germany so much they would never go backbone. Its really a poor country when you go outside the tourist traps.
Adolf's bunker Frankfurt...
it have some new and some mature stuff right next to respectively other...
