Are Birkenstocks a house shoe, or can they be worn outside?
I just moved to Germany and get my first pair of Birkenstocks. Are they a house slipper, or can I wear them outside? My husband say outside, but our friends say inside merely.

I have a duo for inside and another one for outside. I love to wear them for sightseeing because they are so comfortable.
I've been crossing rivers next to them, dried them in the sun again, walk up mountains -- everything. They're the best shoes I've ever had.
Here contained by Germany you can also wear them outside .

I don't know almost Germany, but in the US , I see nation wearing them outside all the time. You can wear them surrounded by or outside. If you get dressed other, please don't put them on for outside, this don't look good.
I don't know just about what they do in Germany, but here contained by the U.S. people where on earth them outdoors all the time! Well, I suppose it is OK to wear them outside if the weather allows you to... I would not wear a pair during the Bavarian winter, it tend to turn your toes "black"... LOL
I have a two of a kind and use them as slippers at home, but I could wear them outside just as very well. They are just close to sandals exept for the heel strap and are intended by the manufacturer as streetwear.
The inside/outside point is a question of craze, style and taste. Those who voice "inside only" think these shoes should never be allowed into fashion within the first place. They are kind of relaxed or working place shoes, popular with nurses, doctors, computer programmers and hippies.
Wear them anywhere!
But-- surrounded by my experience the Birkenstock soles wear down faster when being worn outside, compared to soles of other sandals I have. And-- if you wear them inside in Winter and want to a moment ago step out quick near them on( maybe to shift to the garbage can or so) and in that is snow, they are the most slippery shoes on snow..! You can wear them in- and outside.
I don't know many ppl who in actual fact wear them outside. Probably to work in the garden...

With Birkenstocks the same rules apply as for any other set of two of shoes: however you like them honey! :-)
Wouldn't wear them at the bureau though.
