Being an australian resident do i have need of a business visa to jump to Germany?

Answers:    It depends on your citizenship. Your resident permition is valid only for the country you are allowed to live contained by. Exception: wenn you are married to an european citizen and got your permet through nuptials.

As you do not mention what for citizenship you have, check within the following link (Official Web of the German Ministry of Foreing Affairs) . In the detail of countries you can see if you need a visa or not, remember what counts is your citizenship not your residence security:

Australia is NOT part of the Schengen Agreement, first Australia is not contained by Europe and sencond the only territory outside Europe that belong to this Agreement are either non-European areas of Portugal and Spain and some overseas regions that belongs to european countries, Australia is not surrounded by any of those categories.
The following nationality can enter Germany visa free for a maximum period of 90 days, be it for business or pleasure:

adjectives EU countries
US
Canada
Australia
New Zealand
Japan
South Korea
Israel
Switzerland
almost all Latin American countries (except Cuba, Haiti, Belize, Nicaragua, Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia - i deduce that's it)

If you have one of these nationality you can stay up to 90 days per half year in need a visa but you are not permitted to work. Business negotiations, assignment trainings, trade fair visit or manning a stand at a trade party etc are not considered as work.
If you have any other residency you have to apply for a visa at one of the German missions contained by Australia (Embassy in Canberra, consulates contained by Sydney and Melbourne). Depending on your nationality the visa process can appropriate between 2 and 12 days. If you are a Somali national or a Palestinian holding a Lebanese travel document you can't apply for visit visas.
Hope this help.
no if you want to stay less than 3 months. You largely don't need a Visa if you stay smaller quantity than 90 days for vacation or business.
If you plan to work contained by Germany, you'll need a working voucher Visa

But you best check back next to the German Embassy in Australia what applies for you.
