Hamburg, Berlin, Munich, Dresden - Which is most skipable?
If you were on a tight diary wich city would you skip?
I'm backpacking Europe and will be passing by Germany, where on earth I'm planning to spend about 7 days.
I'm heading from Copenhagen to Salzburg.
Answers: Sounds resembling you are going to have a angelic time!
Here is the skinny on all of the locations:
HAMBURG: Hamburg is the form of popular culture in Germany. Many of the pop-TV stations broadcast from Hamburg, and it have a great club scene. There is nothing really scenic resembling mountains in Hamburg, but the waterfront is really nice, and I enjoy certainly have my share of fun there.
BERLIN: The up to date 1st city of Germany. Since reunification, Berlin has become one of the cultural capital of Europe, not the mention the political capital of a solid Germany. There is so much COOL history here, and TONS to see. Great restaurants, great clubs, great museums, hell...Berlin has great everything. It is also really glib to get around within.
MUNICH: Munich has profusely of things we would traditionally associate with Germany. Think beer hall, the Hofbr"auhaus, girls in a dirndl, etc. It is scenically fundamentally beautiful and is located close to the mountains, and similar contained by nightlife to Hamburg.
DRESDEN: Dresden is one the most renewed cities in Germany. They own just completed the renovation of the Frauenkirche, and it is stunning. The historical center of the city is unbeliveable, and the surrounding area have a lot to proffer. The nightlife is quiet, however.
All of the cities are great to see, but if timing is a concern...Hamburg, Berlin, Munich enjoy the best high speed train connections. Dresden is out of the road. It's a shame, as Dresden is my 2nd favorite city in Germany.
You didn't mention Leipzig, though...my Number 1 choice within the country! It is on the same guiderail line from Hamburg to Berlin to Munich, and is categorically worth a stop.
Good luck!
Just skip Hamburg ... indeed...nothing you can see here except the chocolate cognac cake from Alte Poste :)
that unskiptable. Sorry, but none of these should be skipped! You would miss out a bunch!!
BERLIN... I would skip Hamburg and Munich and go Berlin-Dresden-Prague-Cesky Krumlov(-Passau)-Salzburg

Dresden is most out of your path, but skipable, no.
Salzburg is great. Lived there for 6 years. ~ skip Hamburg...
That's a easier said than done one. I'd skip Munich, simply becuse the other three are definitely unskippable. And if you want to hear population talk next to a funny dialect - well, you're still going to Salzburg :o)
