Anyone know a economical castle to stay at surrounded by Munich or close at hand Munich? If so, how far is it, cost, etc?

I plan to visit Germany subsequent summer and looking for a couple of day s at a castle contained by or near Munich. Any one enjoy any suggestions?

Answers:    Germany has hundreds, but for thousands, of castles; solely a handful of them have be converted into hotels... and rarely would they be considered "economical". There are no castle IN Munich, and the nearest castles to Munich are primarily to the south or east, to the tune of an hour or two away, depending on your mode of transportation.

I lived surrounded by Wiesbaden during my time in Germany, which is right by the Rhein river. There are dozens of castle up that stretch of the Rhein between Hessen and Rheinland-Pfalz (and up towards Koln and the Nordrhein-Westfalen), as well as a few familiar ones down the Mosel river between Trier and Koblenz. You can find online listings and maps of those castle, and which ones are hotels--a greater number of those have be converted to hotels, or even hostels. Examples include Festung Ehrenbreitstein in Koblenz, Burg Rheinfels surrounded by St. Goar, and Burg Rheinstein across from Assmannshausen (there are plenty of others). Except for the few that house hostels, the castles that own hotels in them can seldom be considered "economical"... but it all depends on how much money you're feeling like to dish out. Personally, I'd recommend staying in a simple hostel within town somewhere, depending on where you're traveling to/from, and simply visit castles--they're expensive to stay contained by, if you can stay in them at adjectives, but they're almost always dirt-cheap only just to visit... to the tune of 1-5 euro for an fully fledged ("erwachsen"). Figure out what areas in Germany or any neighboring countries you want to see, and after see if what castles at hand are to be found in that region.
Munich must be one of the most expensive cities to stay, live surrounded by in Germany!!

So you want to stay surrounded by a castle? Wonderful. For you itinerary, the best opportunity is up in the Rhine subdivision. Go to www.gastimschloss.com to find the one you like best. (Gast im Schloss scheme "guest in a castle"). Click on the British flag surrounded by the upper left-hand corner to get the English book. I am not sure if there are any surrounded by the Munich area so I would not want to brand a recommendation of something I enjoy not done.
