Does anyone know how to get umlauts or the essets contained by german?

Answers:    I think ypu properly tight-fisted HOW to write them using Word etc in WINDOWS, right?

Press and HOLD the [ALT] knob, use the Number pad to the moved out (it does not work using the numbers above) and type in the ACSII code assosiated next to the Umlaut. Then let turn of the [ALT] Key.

This DOES NOT WORK in NOTEPAD
Umlaut/ ACSSI
"A 0196
"O 0214
"U 0220
"a 0228
"e 0235
"o 0246
ü 0252
on your Computer must be a 'character map' . at hand you can find all the characters you might entail. such as "(c)"aEUR‰(R)?"oü 3/4 " and many more In Windows, simply press the ALT-Button, and while keeping it pressed type one of the following codes on your Num-Pad (works solely with Num-Pad, not next to the numbers above qwerty.):

"A = 0196
"a = 0228
"O = 0214
"o = 0246
"U = 0220
ü = 0252
ss = 0223

After typing one of the Codes, release ALT, and the letter will be written.
In Windows you also hold the chance to initiate the german keyboard-layout. Therefor go to:
- START
- Settings
- System"stuff"(what's it contained by english again?! ^^)
- (When XP, change to the classic vision...)
- Region and Languagesettings
- Languages
- Details

There you can add the german keyboard-layout.
Switch to it! Now you can use "o"aüss next to ; ' [ - (+caps for the capital-types...).
Hi there, if u don't hold german keyboard consequently i think you can inset umlaut & esszet from insert symbol. if u dont find surrounded by insert then u can write "a=ae, "o=oe, ü=ue & ss=ss. It is permitted nowadays. http://www.forlang.wsu.edu/help/keyboard...

"a=ALT 132
"e=ALT 137
"i=ALT 139
ü=ALT 129
ss=ALT 225
"o"aüss

Do you propose these?
Copy and paste mine, plus I've added others from a German the ivories for your use:

"a"oü

EUR u ^3 ss
On a Mac keyboard:

route + "u" + vowel = "a "e "o ü
option + "s" = ss
