Getting from Berlin Schoenefeld Airport to my hotel?
I'm wondering how I would best get from Berlin Schoenefeld Airport to my hotel on the Lietzenburger Strasse a moment ago off the Kurfürstendamm boulevard contained by Berlin. Anyone know the best, fastest, and cheapest way for me to achieve there, as I am on a budget and won't be arriving contained by until late at hours of darkness. All replies helpful!
Answers: A couple ways you can do it. First past its sell-by date know where your hotel address is and their phone number only just in defence.
Then you can either lift a bus if there is one in the neighbourhood the hotel or if you have to much luggage their are other Taxi's near by as economically. If you have a long means of access to go consequently a shuttle train may be faster.
Cheapest is the bus but fastest would be a taxi or a pre-rented vehicle ready for you if you know where on earth you are going, but I do not recommend this unless you do.
There are not any trams that run to the Kurfurstendamm, they stopped after the World War 2, so the soul who told you to use one is wrong. Also, a taxi will be rather expensive (especially at night) if you're on a budget.
Follow the link within the box below below to the BVG (Berlin public transport operator) web site and download the fast transit (U&S) Bahn maps by clicking on the connection on the right hand side of the page (it's a PDF wallet so you should be ok to do that). There is also a link to a map of the 24 hour route lattice.
If you use the web site properly you'll see that it incorporates a excursion planner so that you can enter your start and destination and times and it will give you a recommended itinerary.
I recommend that you print copies of adjectives the BVG maps available and nick them with you.
From Schonelfeld the easiest and cheapest method is to catch the RE (red double-decker) train to the Zoologischer Garden and wander the rest of the way. There are also S-Bahn (route S9 to Spandau) trains that run from the airport station to the Zoo but they nick a bit longer because they stop at all sorts of places.
The BVG ticket system allows you to buy a ticket that let you use any route or mode of transport (bus, train or tram) and is valid for two hours from the time that you validate it by getting it stamped within the machines on the station platforms. The ticket costs just over 2 euros.
From the Zoo station cross the big widespread, dangerous and busy Hardenbergstarasse to Joachimstrasse. This is the road explicitly directly opposite the vehicle entrance to the bus station. You'll see what I scrounging when you get nearby (or look it up on Google Maps).
Walk down Joachimstaler Strasse about 500 metres until the fork with Lietznburger Strasse. You can identify that road by discreetly looking at the signs
On the way you will cross over Kantstrasse and the Ku'damm; don't way of walking into either of these roads, hang on to going straight ahead.
Turn left at the cross-roads near Lietznburger Strasse and your hotel will be about 50 metres on.
If you're lucky in attendance may be a night bus running that will help yourself to you down Joachimstaller Strasse at the time of your arrival.
If you can't use the trains then your cheapest substitute is to use the night bus grating. This will probably mean some change and take a bit longer.
When you've settled contained by to your hotel you must buy a BVG Welcome Card. This is a 72 hour Travel Card which incorporates discount vouchers for all sorts of Berlin attractions. It's also one of the best guides to the city if you are a unsullied visitor.
By working your track through the book you'll have see a huge ammount of the tourist sights, bars, restaurants, etc. and enjoy the benefit of saving a fortune on bus, tram and Underground fare.
Enjoy.
Find out if the hotel that you'll be staying at offers a shuttle bus. If not, conceivably you could ask around and see if anyone is going that way and grant them a few bucks. There is always a hackney carriage. From airport take Tram S-9 conveyance at zoologischer garten to U9 towards Rathaus Steglitz.
or S-45 change at Budersplatz to U9 towards Osloer str
