It all depends on your expectations. Personally, I find it difficult to live all right (!!) - which includes having an apartment contained by a reasonable nouns, owning a reliable car, paying for insurances, electricity, groceries, clothes, cosmetics, hobbies, occasional fun times while still man able to set free money and also investing some in to a allowance plan - off of smaller amount than 2000 EUR. But that is basically me. Some people survive to live off of 900 EUR. I dont know how they do it but it is possible.
alone? Yes You can but you will hold to be carefull on what you are spending your money.I would suggest eg to look for a flatmate so you will share the rent...
Instead of looking for your own flat search for what we appointment WG (Wohngemeinschaft)people sharing flat so the expensive rent is shared amongst them

Now that is plentifully of money for Germany per month considering that the average rent is between 450 and 550 for a one to two bedroom apartment, you can live very perfect from 1350 euro per month!
