Do German school edify much something like the Holocaust and Germany's role surrounded by World War II?
I heard that German school after the war never qualified much about the Holocaust at adjectives or Germany's role in the period of war and at most just skimmed over it, is this true and is it still true today? If you're German and you want to college in Germany do you remember, did your teacher teach you much roughly it?
Answers: Righ after the war it is true, that not a soul were even discussion about the holocaust.
Today surrounded by my opinion this point is too much discussed in conservatory. When I was surrounded by school we have only, belive me, have only history programme about nazi-regime. If I would not enjoy been researched by myself, would not own known(by school), that there be a germyny in a time _before_ nazis. I have history class in 8 years of my school-time, and solely in the final year of that we did _additionaly_ a little bit something like the GDR because I _begged_ my teacher to do so!
Belive me, I hold my exercise-books from my complete school time til today, and in attendance is almost nothing of history from time since 1920.
It is not good to incline in the sentiment that the history of you counry cosists only on a bunch of bastards, and you are not qualified that this is only the partially truth, and this regime was solitary one part of a massively long history, that was not fruitless all the times.
Its true, that directly after the time of war, there be taught nought about Hitler. It believe the reason is, that the teacher themselves lived in times of time of war and dont want to talk give or take a few their role.
But nowadays as expected everything is tought about ww2 and germanys role I worked for a long time contained by schoolbooks publishing company in Germany. Yes this is the subject surrounded by the History classes. They read that, they talk roughly speaking it. It is good they guide the kids about the History, I expect everybody need to know that. I went to institution in Germany for 13 years and I can transmit you that nowadays they explain to you everything about WWII and the Holocaust. In the second 2 years before our Abitur (German High School diploma) we talk about it so much that heaps students actually get annoyed with it. The polite news: Not merely did we speak about fault and horrifying actions, we also discussed psychological aspects and reason. We read Günter Grass none stop and tried to figure out why it happen, and how to catch it if history repeats itsself.
To sum it up: Instead of simply going over the facts out Gymnasium teachers made sure that we truly couched what happened (as far as specifically even possible today). We really learned something. I'm not sure what go on in the 2 decades after time of war.But I think the immature people within the 70's were organized to face the things that happen.But just a guess.
In my college years(1990-2001)We were skilled very much almost holocaust and the political stuff going on before WWII.Also visit the Conzentration Camp in Dachau.
We weren't in fact taught something like the battles of WWII but the political meeting such as the allied meeting within Malta and certainly Potsdamer Conference when period of war was over.

do american children revise something in the university about the genocide on original american?! Why would young Germans be forced to filch a guilt trip over something that people contained by their country did and which is generations away? I agree that it should be part of the pack of their history studies, but it should not be used to rub it in constantly.
I guess contemporary Americans would not close to to be reminded constantly of how they treated blacks or native American Indians.
Now while I be in university, I did learn going on for the Holocaust and about WW II.
Other than that, why is it so difficult to agree to go of the Holocaust, it be a horrible thing but conversation about it will not create it go away.
Vietname and immediately the war specifically going on is also horrible and so many other war's.
It's true that right away following the war, not much be taught in the order of the war and the Holocaust, although i would argue that today, Germany is much more approachable about the Holocaust than nation's such as France, who hold not opened up their archives to the public (for disquiet that they were SO involved within the war and don't want the world to know).
The background of history varies by state within Germany, but while I lived there, they go through different periods depending on the university grade: So class 11 covered Charlemagne until the French Revolution, grade 12/13 covered Enlightenment until present daylight.
