Wiesbaden... Old roman town, cobblestone streets. nice little bistros off the tourist strip, but also, more millionaires than Beverly Hills. They even enjoy their own equivalent of Rodeo drive.
Across the river is Mainz with its 1000 year frail cathedral, The Gutenberg museum with several of the first printed Bibles, and much more history.
And purely down the Rhine is Eltville with its own storybook castle. here are tours down the river showing the castles along the Rhine of the Robber Barons.
Dresden, there's a great deal of culture, museums, opera, wineyards, nice surroundings, aged buildings

My favorite is Garmisch-Partenkirken. It is a beautiful town at the remains of the Alps. The scenery is so incredible. By train it is just about 2 hours from Munich. depends what you want to see, as each place differs from respectively other. have a look at adjectives of them and find your personal favourit. happy hunting !
Munich, Cologne, Frankfurt, Berlin
