All Americans living contained by Germany-what products do you miss the most living surrounded by Germany?
My husband is going to the States on business next week, and have asked me what I miss, and what he can bring back to me.
Keep within mind, I do not live close to an Army base, so I can't find a lot of US products.
Here is my schedule so far...
Extra chewing gum-the stuff you get here is not like, because the flavor doesn't last partly as long.
Ear plugs-I've looked everywhere for them to no avail.
Sweet Tarts
Blistex-I can find Chap Stick, but not Blistex

Answers: Hi, I'm American and I live in Munich. What I miss most is first of adjectives HOME, Family and Friends. Then the great steaks that you cant get anywhere outside of the US. Peanut Butter (not the unwanted items you can get here) Doughnuts!!, Cheap gas, Lemon Merangue Pie!! Blueberry Pie!! Cool-Aid and with ease Spring Floats, Portable Hammocks, Free Soda Refills in food joint. Wow, you are a lucky one getting a delivery from home!

I miss bagels, Applebees 'boneless' buffalo wings ( if you'd have them, you know), English television, and AMERICAN coca cola. I swear it taste so different here.

Real donuts. The problem is that they dont stay fresh for very lng so when nation fly home and bring 'em back, they still suck! The American shampoos and body lotions smell better. I also miss man able to buy makeup minus spending a fortune on it. I also miss Poptarts and Cheez-its, even thought they aren't exactly good for you ;-) It's be so long since I've been contained by the US I'm starting to forget what all they own there. Going to an American store or shopping precinct is always overwhelming when I stir back, know what I connote? So much stuff!
American TV. I can only appropriate so many football match and German travellogs. Nothing at all.
I'm no american, but you can draw from ear plugs in the pharmacy and Blistex (if we are chitchat about lipstick) is available via the pharmacy as very well or try Schlecker. Ear plugs are known by the brand mark "Oropax" in Germany - shift into a pharmacy or a drugstore and ask for these.
Frank's Hot Sauce has be spotted in substantial supermarkets like Kaufland or contained by delicatessen stores at Karstadt, Kaufhof Galeria etc.
What I have be looking for here in Germany within vain tough is kosher pure beef or kosher pure fish gelatine for baking and cooking.
I lived in Germany for a couple of wonderful years, and I dream up I now miss German products more than I did American ones when I be there, although I did hold access to a modest PX. I might have him bring over some spice mixes to produce good, hot salsa and guacamole; Mexican food on the German bazaar is pricey, bland, and usually sub par. If you like Ranch or other American-style salad dressings, you might hold him bring those as well. I know what you plan about lip balm, though- I detested the kind on the German souk, mostly the stuff from Labelo, as I thought it was too waxy. Biore pore strips can be tricky to find in German stores as all right...maybe near is a brand of cereal you miss? I have lived surrounded by Germany for 20 years and this type of question is getting harder to answer. Many of the 'Typical American' products can be found contained by Germany, OK they may cost a lot more. And, I hold noticed tons of these 'Typical American' products are food related and fattening.
OK, having said that here are the American products I miss the most;
-A BIG ButterBall Turkey! 20-24 Pounds!(Years ago when soldiers be stationed near where on earth I lived I used to sponser a few for Christmas dinner - after the first year the soldiers would you show up with a ButterBall Turkey(A week untimely of course) and other typical American Products, canned pumpkin(I grow fresh now), cranberry sauce, seasoned bread crumbs, pecans, etc. and I would cook them up a wonderful Christmas dinner!).
-Skippy Creamy Peanut Butter(Yes, I know sometimes it can be found at Karstadt or the English speciality shops).
-Fresh Baggels!
-Tanactin(Sp?) Cream or Spray for athlete's foot(Sorry, the stuff they trade in Germany only does not work as good).
And, I know this a product that will not fit in a suitcase, but I do miss the Waffle House!
I'm a German have lived in the US (now living contained by Switzerland).

Girl Scout Cookies
Bagles
Anything else I was competent to find here. And I need to articulate that I was missing a much longer chronicle of European things while living in the US ;-)

There be a few American things I missed sometimes while I lived in Germany, similar to good Mexican food (the American magazine of it anyway), dirt-cheap gas, American TV and radio, as well as person able to see my loved ones and see my favorite places in my home state.
That said, I contemplate that there are more things I miss give or take a few Germany, now that I'm pay for in the US, than I missed in the region of the US. German drivers is without examine the biggest thing; Germans are far, far, far better drivers than Americans, not to mention safer and more predictable. I miss the autobahn every time I hold to get on an American freeway and plunk along for 45 minutes freshly to move a couple of miles. There are many other things just about Germany I miss, too, such as Maredo, good pipe tobacco stores, Christmas Markets, the mixture and value surrounded by German grocery stores, Rhein wine/brandy, castles, cathedrals, parks... tons other things to boot.
I'm all around the little thing too... it isn't resembling I'm dying without these things, in recent times a pang of longing every presently and again.

I'm not American living within German, I'm German. I just would similar to to tell you that Blistex you can buy over here at several Drug Stores such as Schlecker, DM or Müller.
