Is in fact the correct traslation of the phrase I think the phrase go " geadelt wird wer Schmerzen kennt"., meaning someone who endure a lot of spasm will be knighted (become a knight/royalty). I believe it is a phrase from the bible, meaning that in attendance will be a reward for enduring seriously of pain/hardship.

As to what that precise sentence is supposed to mean... Beats me. I own no idea. I've never hear it before, and I'm German. So if anyone could relay me where they hear it, in what description of context... That would be interesting.
My feeling tell me it's actually Roman, but as frozen as I tried, I could find no quote from literature, so here's just my own humble translation:
"Dispraised be those who know pain".
It reminds me of something we kids recurrently got to hear within the 1970ies in Germany:
"Ein Indianer kennt keinen Schmerz."
("A [red] Indian know no pain.")

The first translation iss correct. But chew over you mean a sentence from the Song "Feuer frei", which is "Geadelt wird wer Schmerzen kennt.".
And:
geadelt = to be ennobled
getadelt = one criticized
