A grill for Germans and relatives who enjoy be living contained by Germany?
This is a question for German natives and/or society who have lived contained by Germany for a period of time. Do you wallow in living in Germany and are you bullish there? If you own been to America: Do you resembling Germany better than the U.S.? Do you like the race in Germany within general better than ethnic group in America? Do you relish German culture and society better than American culture and society and why or why not?
Answers: I'm an American student currently studying in Germany, and some of what I enunciate is just going to reaffirm what everyone else have said. The culture here (in southern Germany) is absolutely amazing. The gait of life is a bit slower, and you bring the sense that everyone is savoring life a bit more. The beer is FANTASTIC, even if you're not typically a beer drinker, and the wine is surprisely amazing (I always have a sneaking suspicion that more or Italy and France and California when I think great wine). The backerys, caf¨¦, etc. all enormously awesome. As a student, it's quite different. Inside of have classes 2 to 4 times a week, classes meet once a week for 2 hours, and here is significantly less day after day work. The grading scramble is also very different.
The public transporation is also a greeting plus, and this coming from someone who loves to drive. Unfortunately Deutsche Bahn (the German rail system) is one of the more expensive contained by europe, but it's definitely very well organized and convienent, nine times out of ten. There is also great local transit, although I find that most places are well inside walking distance.
I find the people a bit more distant at first. Small gossip isn't really as big here as it is back home - contained by fact it's repeatedly regarded as shallow. However, once you receive a German friend, generally you'll be friends for time - friendships here are taken very seriously/deeply.
Germans are VERY environmentally aware. Recycling is SO MUCH BETTER than it is hindmost home. You seperate all of your trash into 4 to five different bins, and take taxed if you do it wrong.
Germany is an completely beautiful country. There are so heaps beautiful sights, although reasonably a lot have had to be rebuild. The history here is just so rich, and you once in a while get bored, as there's other some place to go and see.
There are manifestly cons though, and this coming from the American perspective. Nothing besides bars/restaurants is open departed 10, or on Sundays. And if you are a serious student, while the experience of Germany is in standard fanstastic, the university system is going to drive you up the wall. Nothing is online or consolidated, how to register for classes varies from class to class, and could involve anything from waiting within a line for 5 hours to emailing a trainer or finding a random room and signing up nearby. The library, at least at my conservatory, is arranged by pulication date instead of subject, you aren't allowed to check out the majority of your books, and yes, it too is closed on sunday. Teachers are a lot more distant than ones backbone home, and not nearly so helpful contained by office hours.
Speaking of bureau hours, that's one thing you own to contend with moderately a lot. No 24 hour customer service. Generally nearby will be five offices you inevitability to get to within regards to bank, registering with the city, etc, and they will singular be open an hour an a partly a week, and generally it will adjectives be during the same hour. Banking contained by particular is horrible. Just - so much smaller number organized than the USA. In fact, I would enunciate that, other than public transport, everything here is SIGNIFICANTLY smaller amount organized.
I personally find it easier to socialize and what not vertebrae home, though I do believe a lot of that have to do with my difficulties near the foreign language. On a unharmed, I love the culture and lifestyle and would love to move back for a few years, though I reason I would ultimately prefer to settle back contained by the United States. I've fallen within love with my little city and will dislike having to give notice it in a few months, but as adjectives of my family and most of my friends are contained by the USA, it makes more sense for me to be at hand, plus I plan to continue a occupation in academia, and it would engender far more sense for me to do that back home.
Tofi, I hold no idea how you get the impression that swearing within public is okay in Germany. I hold never ever heard so much "dirty talk" (f.) within public/on TV as in the US. Unfortunately, childlike Germans consider it cool and are picking it up from the US more and more!
The German culture is very different from the American one even they are both Western cultures. There are advantages/disadvantages surrounded by both countries.
Hi, I'm German, living in the U.S. and I close to living here much better than in Germany for exactly duplicate reasons Americans approaching living in Germany better. I know that sounds abnormal but I repeatedly asked Americans what they like better something like Germany than America and they gave me duplicate answers I was simply about to contribute them on the same interview. I think it other depends where you are at within Germany and what your situation is (looking for work or so) if you have no money and no arbitrary to get a charge living is bad surrounded by both countries. If you are OK and open minded living is great surrounded by both countries. one thing is greatly different: swearing
in germany you can use every dirty word surrounded by public even there are children arround you. try that contained by the us.
I am an American and have lived contained by Germany for the past 14 months. I am equipped to go home. I don't close to Germany better. And I don't particularly resembling the people better any. The culture is interesting and so are the sights. The food is very well-mannered. Hi there, I am a German local who curretnly lives in Germany, but have lived in the US twice, respectively time for almost a year.
I can't say which country is "better" or where on earth I like living more. When I am surrounded by Germany, I miss certain things roughly the US, like the friendliness by the salespeople surrounded by the stores though everytime I go spinal column, it takes me a while to achieve used to it again, because sometimes it's just a short time too much), the cheap clothes and so on. Certain foods.
When I'm in the US, I miss definite things about Germany. The bread, for one point. The cheap supermarket stores. Movable showerheads. Certain foods. The tampons (not a joke here!).
I do miss walking through behind the times towns and seeing castles and castle ruins, because almost every city around where on earth I come from has get something like that.
I regularly describe the way I touch to my friends as "turning over a switch in my head". If I stumble out of a plane looking for caffeine and the character goes: "What can I do for you (& dear, honey or whatever)" the first thing I have an idea that is: "God, I must look terrible if she is so munificent to me!" And than I remember I just arrived contained by the US.
However, if the person bringing up the rear the counter goes: "Yes?!" or simply looks at me, I'm resembling: "Alright, you're back home surrounded by Germany."
As for happines: I was/am happy surrounded by both countries generally. I do similar to Germany a little better than the US, because it's where on earth I grew up and all my friends and house are here. Culture-wise I think you can't compare the two. Sure, they are both western cultures, but it's jsut difficult to compare countries that are so different contained by so many tiny things. I could never cross them all. Society: Well, society is something you can pick, and I enjoy the society I had surrounded by the US, and I enjoy the society I hold here. Don't get me wrong, I own been talk down to in the US because I be German/European by some people, but I own also been talk down to by "friends" in Germany for have already lived in the US once and wanting to run back in attendance (that was beforehand my second stay there). It all come down to people equaling country to establishment and politics, and that's not the way to turn. I don't like Bush ,I don't support what he is doing, and I don't guess he is right, but that does not change that the population in the US are nice, stretch out, interested, sometimes a little innocent (those were markedly young, though) and roughly fun to be with. People contained by Germany are not that openly unscrew. You do need to gt to know them a short time before you can converse to them about their political view and stuff, but they are also fun, interested, outgoing.
Like I said, for me, it's like a switch contained by the head that have to get turned over.
But I close to living in "both" worlds.
Germany defenatly rocks much more consequently US, I've lived either places for slightly a while, Germany it's just so much better. I've really enjoid US too, it be coo' maby becaouse I originate from Russia I hold been living within Germany for three years now but I enjoy lived here previously.
I love living in Germany and I'm highly happy here. I prefer Germany to America - although I own never lived there singular visited. I would call on America again but never live there.
I muse that German people are friendly and fun and a nice group of ancestors but I wouldn't say Americans are any smaller quantity so.
I think that the German culture is great - the majority do not nose-dive into the boring lederhosen sausage eating stereotype that they are given - they are great fun, definately know how to group and are generally nice and polite.
In my eyes the society of America is miscellaneous to where abouts you move about to. I love San Fran as the people be polite, clean and friendly. LA panicky me and I wouldn't walk the streets on my own at dark - likewise Las Vegas be very surreal and I wouldn't travel on my own there.
Overall I prefer Germany for my reason stated above. I also prefer it to the United Kingdom (where I am from).

I'm a native German, who emigrate to Britain half a year ago, and although I love it here too, I do appreciate some things contained by Germany when I go put money on occasionally. Like the refreshing brashness and cheek of the media, including both private channel and shows and political magazines on the regular ones. Everything the goverment or other governtments do is question, which is a good point in my scene. Political satire is set great store by and it's completely lively on TV as well as within the club scene. There's a general atmosphere of freedom and openmindedness and you can utter things about politicians you would probably be arrested for if you said them surrounded by the USA in public. After the horrible experience of the nazi term, German schools coach the children to be critical and not to obey blindly, so usually, kids grow up near a very broad and critical panorama of the political world. I wouldn't want to live in the USA, because contained by my view, freedom of speech is merely a ruse there and the citizens are terrifically unfree.
One thing I dislike surrounded by Germany though are the horrible manners of people, who are much smaller quantity polite than in other countries. If you be in motion in a shop 10 minutes back they close, you might hear a grunting sound a bit than a friendly welcome and a whisper in the environment complaining about those awful customers. ;-)
But if you procure to know them better, after 10 or 20 years, most Germans turn out quite friendly, sometimes.
Hi, I'm an American living within Germany and I love it. I would have to read out I like living within Germany better than living in the US. The Germans are on average immensely nice people. The culture is amazingly family orient and they seem to close to to spend a lot of time outdoors. At smallest where I live (In the Palatinate). I wouldn't right to be heard they are better here, it's just a different culture. They do though appear nicer, and more open. At first they may look adjectives, but once you start talking to them, you find this doesn't indicate anything. They have like mad of holidays (33 I think) and don't seem to work as much as an average American.
If you similar to to travel Germany is in a great spot within between France, the Netherlands, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, and the Czech Republic.
The things I don't like almost living here is that it rains greatly! It can get liberal of depressing after a while, but usually by then the sun peep out. Also everything is closed on Sundays and they don't have fundamental as many places to shop. It's rather expensive too.
If you like the outdoors, socializing and travel it's a wonderful place to live. I hope this help you;)
