Going to Germany at christmas?
I am going to Germany over christmas for 2 months, what do you recommend doing?
Answers: Germany at Christmas is great, if you are there untimely, be sure to go to the Weihnachtsmarkts - a short time ago about every town have one, and they are great fun. Really very intensive Christmas. I'd also consider time within Berlin at that time of year - Berlin is a fascinating city beside a lot to see. Days will be short, but they own great culture, the season will be in full swing, and the museums are fantastic. Lots of great clubs, too.
Munich is other a lot of fun, they enjoy great museums, too, and such. Englisher Garten won't be so great at that time of year, but it will be a great town to be in.
I other recommend you get to a medieval town - Goslar and Quendlinburg are my favorite - Rothenburg feel a little too produced to me.
If you ski or are into winter sports, call round the alps! Garmish-Partekirchen is a great place to indulge in skiing or skating or doesn`t matter what - after all they've have a winter Olympics there!
There are some great, and more mild, places around the Bodensee. Try to call in those.
The black forest must be lovely in the snow - check it out.
Last but not lowest, try to make it to one of Germany's baths, conceivably Baden-baden.
And make sure that you pop in one of the concentration camps departed from the Nazi era. Buchenwald, Dachau, Sachsenhausen (do-able as a day trip from Berlin). It's something every guest to Germany should visit and experience - to take what happened, and to deny genocide worldwide.
Go to Rothenburg it is the Christmas Town of Germany. You will be able to shop until you drop. I enjoy been here at least 8 times during my visit to Germany. Make sure you attend a Weihnachtsmarkt (Christmas market) ... they are fun, quaint, perfect shopping, and in the chilly winter weather, a Gluehwein (hot spiced wine) will no problem hit the spot! :)
Otherwise, be sure to get surrounded by some good ski trips to the Alps.
It depends which cut of Germany you intend going. I would suggest Bavaria during winter time. I live in the Dusseldorf nouns
and would propose quite a numerous places neighbouring. Good hotel rates on www.onevacationclub.com
