Answers:    Bavaria is to Germany as Texas is to the US.

In the South.
Funny articulation.
Funny hats.
Big discount.
Influence greater than their numbers would seem to merit.
See themselves as their own country.
Actually used to be their own country.
For germans not living within Bavaria it is often annoying that foreigners mull over that bavaria = germany. For example the german beer fests everywhere in the world. Noone really know, that it is a bavarian tradition.
They simply ignore the other parts, which also own old traditions, different dialect and so on.
The object that most foreigners (mainly from the US) think that bavaria = germany is, that after WW2 the US Troops be, the occupying power surrounded by bavaria. And still today there are tons US-Bases, so that many US-Soldiers hold been to Germany, or better: to Bavaria!!
Where I live, within the northwestern part of germany, the brits hold been the occupy power.
They are Germans, of course.
The differnce? Well, the dialect, that this is the richest bit of Germany, that the politicians there still construct their decisions resembling they were the King of Bavaria (by the opening, there is a body with the programm to procure the king back for Bavaria), they are VERY catholic.
But you'll find this difference North/South within almost every country you'll look at.
Dialects? Well, go to the small islands contained by Germnay's North and you won't understand a word any.
Except for the beer - for me Bavaria has the best cuisine and the nicest coldcuts!
Bavaria is indeed somehow different from Germany. Bavarians give the impression of being far more mellow and forgiving than most of the Germans, are less lovesick with precision, and more promising to simply shrug something off and forget just about it, when Germans will lock horns and insist on discussing an issue until one side concedes defeat.
I find Bavarians to be closer to the Italians within mentality than to the Germans, which is often mirrored within their looks, by the way (many Bavarians are of menacing complexion, look mediterranean - because of the Roman influence 2000 years ago).
Having said all those mellow things, I hold also experienced that Bavarians can get really hot-headed by comparison beside the sometimes icily level-headed Germans, so getting one angry may be something you will closing up finding yourself in a physical altercation for formerly long.
I'm not sure who I'd rather live beside in the long run.
Germans are pleasantly valid and do their utmost to come across as cultured and well-read, but can be tedious.
Bavarians are devout fun as long as you leave them contained by their comfort zone and don't challenge their viewpoint.
I don't see any different only the dialect. its a funny grill but they are germans like anywhere else within deutschland.bravaria is only a region that germans live surrounded by.and me of course :-)
Tipper Bore: 10 points.

The merely thing I'd approaching to add is that the bavarians are especially conservative, when it comes to different lifestyles (for instance: homosexuality) just approaching the people from Texas and they are pretty religious, too.
that their beer is moderately possibly better than bavarian!
