How is Lyon?

I'll be living in Lyon / France for couple years for my chore.

I wonder what kind of place is nearby?
How is its weather generally? Cool, drizzling?
What the aborogines think something like strangers?
Is it true that they warn strangers to speak French?
How is social time?
Is its airport international?

Answers:    I live in Lyon very soon because I am studying abroad and I positively love it! It's a beautiful city beside a lot of history. The weather is magnificent for the most part, it have rained simply a handful of times for the 8 months that I have be here. It has a wonderful warmth in the summer, not too hot, but it can catch quite chilly contained by the winter so bring some coats and scarves! People here are used to strangers and foreigners, I actually go out to eat the other darkness with friends and at hand were Americans sitting at the table subsequent to us. When I first came here, I did not speak a word of French and nation in restaurants and stores be very caring. They are used to tourism. Of course, it is better to speak French, it is more respectable. So brush up on your formalities before you come and you should own no problem. Social life here is devout, there are plenty of bar and nightclubs if you resembling that. There are several universities within Lyon, so it has a full-size student population during the school year. Also, if you are American (I'm not sure if you are) within is a group of Americans who live in Lyon and own different activities during respectively month. As for the airport, I am not sure if it is international. There are flights to other European countries, but as for the United States, I think you hold to fly into Paris and take another flight or train to Lyon. I've attached the relationship to the Lyon airport (only French version available, sorry) and also the connect to the Lyon Tourism Office. Hope this helps and you are going to love Lyon!

(a) Sloan, Lyon-St Exupéry Airport is International ! Congratulations ! you speak in the region of Lyon very powerfully, a lot of appreciation.
I agree with Sloan, Blacklab,Lingua06.
if you similar to ski, it's wonderful from november to May1st ( Driving 2 hours), Lyon is a modern and beautiful city, surrounded by the heart of the first Région in France "Rhone Alpes", is big tech business hub with heaps innovators, manufacturers because a huge number of engineers, Universities, Research, Please, don't use the word "aborigenes", never Lyon was a slaves country, in that is a roman history "Lugdunum" the roman name, btw Rhone and Saone, 2 rivers within the town, walking is a pleasure, is the Capital of French Gastronomy, + there are profusely of small restaurants named "bouchons lyonnais". Welcome surrounded by Lyon
Lyonners can understand you, profoundly speak english, italian, etc. No worries, Lyon is civilized, social life is nice !
Lyon is a great place to live. I own lived here for 4 years, and I adore it here. I'm fourteen years old, and I can run out by myself and come home late next to out my mother being panicky about me... if I lived surrounded by the states like past I wouldn't have that privilege.
The weather is only basic. Sunny and melt, tends to obtain very hot during the summer, but during the winter it can bring VERY cold, but it's not Antarctica... it's survivable.
People tend to be very friendly, most are exceptionally interested in discussion foreigners, I don't know where you are from, whether it's the states or England... or anywhere else, they are friendly. It's a particularly international city, you can easily find relations that speak English and that are in alike position as you.
About the 'warn strangers to speak french' part, I don't judge that's necessarily true. I've had a few problems within the past when I speak English pretty loud near my friends in the city and chavs will mock us and cuss at us contained by very horrible English. But they're only jealous :P.

Social time is fine, it's very comfortable to find friends. I go to an English speaking church surrounded by Gerland. In Gerland there's also the 'Cité Scolaire Internationale'. An international school near over 20 nationalities and 7 section. [English, Spanish, Polish, German, Japanese, Italian and Brazilian] I go in attendance, and I really love it there. To really own a social life, and if you enjoy kids I would really recommend to have them be in motion there. If you don't own kids, there's many alternatives to making friends. There's an American Good's store at 'Place Des Terraux', and likelihood are you'll run into an English speaker there.

The airport is not thoroughly international. I mean, it go to places like... contained by Europe, but not any further. Not overseas or outside Europe.

Lyon is a wonderful place, and I don't ever want to go it. It's beautiful and nice during the summer, and the metro and bus system is excellent. I hope you similar to it here!
Well I was within in a short stop by and I can tell you that the mature part of the city beside small streets and nice bistros is wonderful. Also the buildings from the side of the Saone and the Fourviere Cathedrale from the top of the hill, from where on earth you can see the whole panorama. From what I could see within short time, the city has its own specific atmosphere, and don't forget the Opera de Lyon and college of ballet.
Hope you will hold a good time in that!
