To live and work surrounded by France, would I enjoy to speak within French?

I work as a medical secretary, so would I have to type French or English post over there?



Answers:    I chew over you will get away beside a few words of French if you are prepared to put in the go and learn the writing quickly when you bring back there. It is thoroughly hard to become fluent contained by a language unless you do live beside native speakers anyway, and within my experience you can get by if you try to speak French. Maybe you could seize a customer service based employment somewhere where they involve you to speak English for a few months until you pick up the language and afterwards you can get a brief as a medical secretary.

Even my language teacher at school who have been living surrounded by the UK for many years still hold to look up the occasional word - as we do with English, so don't reason you have to be supreme, but I think you enjoy to give it a dance.
I'm french and i live in Paris, you don't own to speak french but it's useful to swot some words to live in france.

we don't make endeavour to speak fluent English and have a frightful accent, most children swot up scholar English but forget it soon as the course are completely boring.

i'm sorry if it sounds licentious to you, but i'm a french girl living in the uk and it would never own occured to me to not learn the dialect!
you may be able to get hold of away with speaking english contained by your workplace if the company you work for is british or american, but in everyday vivacity, you will find that even though lots of people know a bit of english, they're far from fluent, and elder people will most probably will not want to engineer the effort.
besides which you will involve to speak french when you go to the post organization, the mairie, or anything connected with regime.

Well, that depends on where you're going to live surrounded by France, if it's in the countryside, gain ready to draw. After that depends on the population as all right, if you go to Britanny in that is a lof of British.
In all the crust, if it's to live you can live without speaking French, I own a friend who used to live in Paris during 1 year and partly and he wasn't able to hold a basic conversation even at the lapse of his stay (lazy to learn it ^ ^). One item is sure, even without to be bilingual, the ethnic group appreciate if you know at least some words or label some effort to speak French.
Concerning work, that's a concern of fact you stipulation to speak French. I mean you're secretary so you are within contact with inhabitants, so usually it requires, after there are different level. Maybe you can post in FUSAC, a magazine for english speaker.
depending on where on earth you stay, it is likely that they will speak sufficiant english, weirdly they are more probable to know english if you are in a city similar to paris, rather than a smaller place such as lyon, as they will use it more. I also found when i stayed that it is immensely useful to know how to speak key french, it will help you to survive so much easier!

The only place where on earth it would not matter as much would be Geneva you'd perceive right at home there near all those americans. and at 1/3 of culture there don't speak french and it is fine, AND you produce much more money too

I'm afraid yes ! I'm french and I don't issue if someone adresses me in English, but it's said that some culture apreciate that you at least try to speak French. If French folks go to foreign countries, they try to speak the speech of that country. But I think a "Bonjour" and "Merci" next to a nice accent and smile will be OK if you don't speak French at adjectives ; ). Anyway, in your everyday natural life, it would be useful to know basical French. And within your job, near contacts with folks, it will be more than useful !
Depends on the available job. I know several people beside technical job (research or engineering) who went here for work and did not cram french for years.

But in your valise, yes, you have to speak french. Imagine a medical secretary speaking single french and working in UK: the tolerant will learn french for her ?

Depends ... you'll pick up some anyway after a while. People expect you to try at most minuscule; if your Job is primarily for your skills in English you should be fine. If you compete near French speakers for a french job you're within for a tough ride ;-) I have a friend who after 10 years contained by a small rural village and really apt French is still called l'Anglais (they do close to him, nearly as local feature presently !) and a Friend in a trendy Paris work, whom his French colleagues envy because his English is perfect.
France is anglophobic surrounded by general . Very few folks speak english and the government continues to avoid any english word within public places. You want to work there? Learn French.
