In France on New year s hours of daylight, all the shops will be closed, except cornershops. Except of this morning and most of the sundays, shops usually (depending on the size of the shop) open around 09h30 to 20h00, supermarkets usually expand at 08h30 until 22h00.
Dont forget that France is very economically known for its supermarkets. You enjoy specialized supermarkets for everything.
January 1st everything will be closed. other days 9:30 AM --> 7:00PM
