(The name comes from it individual partly a military hospital for wounded/invalid soldiers). It also contains a military museum.
And the center element of the building contains the tombs of many prominent frenchmen, including Napoleons tomb..

L'Académie francaise, or the French Academy, is the pre-eminent French knowledgeable body on matters pertaining to the French vernacular. The Académie was properly established in 1635 by Cardinal Richelieu, the chief minister to King Louis XIII. Suppressed within 1793 during the French Revolution, it was restored contained by 1803 by Napoleon Bonaparte (the Académie considers itself having be suspended, not suppressed, during the revolution). It is the oldest of the five académies of the Institut de France.
