Pls. explain the engineering study cycle in FRANCE?

I can't understand how engineering students in France get their degrees. Is it true that two yrs. of Bachelor's & 2 yrs of Master's?

Answers:
It depends on your level in college.
I recommend you to have a master level.

So you don't have to do the Post-secondary preparatory school, which is very hard (35h/week, without homework. you don't sleep before 11pm.)

Then you wil need 3 years to get your degree.
You have to know that some engineering school are more famous than others.

The most prestigious school (hard to enter in, except if you come from Harvard, Yale, Georgetown or somethin like that):

Ecole Polytechnique
Ecole des Mines
Ecole Centrale
Ecole des Ponts et Chaussées

But the other schools are "reachable" and they are not bad (they are just less prestigious)

To get an engineer's degree in France :

We get the "Baccalauréat" at the end of "lycée" (= high school), normally at the age of 18.

Then 2 years (often 3 years) of Post-secondary preparatory school / classes preparing for entrance examinations to the French Grandes Ecoles. This is a fixed program of study that focuses on mathematics, physics and chemistry. These preparatory courses are rarely available outside France.

After that we can enter in a "Grande Ecole", which is more specialized (telecommunications, civil engineering, computing or industrial engineering etc.).
We get our engineer's degree after 3 years, i.e. 5 years after baccalauréat.

Hope that's clear.
