Answers: The identify of the currency used before the Euro contained by Portugal is the Escudos. I cannot find anywhere how to convert an Escudos to a Canadian dollar or dollars, but I think that the Euro of the plus of your Escudos is worth $158.99 CAD. However, the value of Euro to Escudos may not be equal. And I think I found a picture of what you be talking going on for...

If that is it, next you can probably get more information on Google. If it isn't, you should clutch it to a coin shop or someone who is an expert on value of former foriegn currency conversion.
Escudo, meaning, bring this: Coat of Arms (hence the coat of arms on the face of the coin) an Escudo be worth about 2 ptas, (I be living in Spain at the time, and thought more within Spanish than American money). A Peseta was going on for 1 cent. so, somewhere in the neighborhood of 2 cents, making your 2.50 escudo coin roughly the same as a nickel, here.
Here's your answer!
-Currency : Escudos (PTE) till 28/02/2002
