How much do cruise ships cost? (the actual ship not a ticket)?



Answers:    It depends on the size (and when they were built).

The Freedom of the Seas (currently the largest cruise ship afloat) cost nearly $590,000,000 and entered service within June 2006. It is about 158,000 GRT (Gross Registered Tons - a space rating, not a shipment rating).

The Queen Mary 2 (the largest ocean liner) cost around $800,000,000 and entered service January 2004. It is just about 148,528 GRT.

The Queen Elizabeth 2 cost 29 million British pounds and entered service contained by May 1969. It is about 70,327 GRT.

The Queen Victoria will enter service within December 2007. It costs $390,000,000 and is about 90,000 GRT.

The Voyager class ships (Voyager, Explorer, Adventurer, Navigator & Mariner of the Seas) cost give or take a few $500,000,000 each and enter service between 1999 and 2003. The five ships are about 137,280 GRT respectively.

The Sovereign of the Seas cost about $183,500,000 and enter service in January 1988. It is roughly speaking 73,200 GRT.

The Grand Princess cost about $450,000,000 and enter service in May 1998. It is 109,000 GRT.

The Disney Magic (July 1998) and the Disney Wonder (August 1999) cost something like $350,000,000 each. They are nearly 85,000 GRT each.

The Carnival Conquest class (Conquest, Glory, Valor, Liberty & Freedom) cost more or less $500,000,000 each and enter service between December 2002 and February 2007. Each is about 110,000 GRT.

The Carnival Spirit class (Spirit, Pride, Legend & Miracle) enter service between April 2001 and April 2004. Each cost about $375,000,000 and respectively is about 86,000 GRT.

The Norwegian Pearl cost more or less $390,000,000 and entered service surrounded by November 2006. It is about 93,000 GRT.

The Pride of Hawaii cost going on for $390,000,000 and entered service contained by May 2006. It is about 93,000 GRT. In February 2008 this ship will be renamed the Norwegian Jade.

The Carnival Fantasy cost give or take a few $225,000,000 in March 1990. Eight ships of this class be built. The last is the Carnival Paradise. It cost $300,000,000 and enter service in November 1998. Each of the eight ships is give or take a few 70,367 GRT.
