Advantages of using both the U.S & Jamaican Dollar surrounded by Jamaica?
Im from sunny ol' England and will be travelling to Negril, Jamaica in April for a couple of weeks.
I know the exchange rates for both the USD & JMD are pretty devout at the moment and im thinking there might be some advantages to exchanging my lblblb's for a USD:JMD ratio of roughly 3:1?
Any advice general public?

Answers: Use Ja$. the vendor only just love to see the US$ so they can charge you extra. Also if you use ant foriegn currency you will never get an accurate exchange rate from retailer, it will always be an estimated rate and you will not grasp correct change any they will round up because vendor dont generaly trade near foreign currency. Some do, but its not the norm.
Take it from a jamaican, USE only Jamaican dollars..
P.S. a word to the sagacious if you have any jamaican friend or relative agree to them do the talking....
I would read aloud use US currency and Jamaican because,
1. Most people qoute their prices within j$ or Us$. You may get an even WORST conversion rate for spot purchases if you are using sterling, since not as abundant people monitor that exchange rate or store funds contained by that currency.
2. Part of negotiating purchases contained by the streets of Jamaica is KNOWING when to use either of the two currrencies (J/US). You involve to be able to divide on the go. Its stressful to incorporate a third currency.
I agree with the Jamaican who answered on this page...much better to exchange into Jamaican currency to purchase things within the touristy areas of the city because you get a much better conversion. The US dollar is widely agreed, but you always appear to pay more to use it.
Wouldn't you obtain more with the pound sterling since its stronger.

Change is at the cambio, their rate is like mad better than the bank.
But next to the falling US dollar I guess you will get more when exchanging the pounds into US dollars.
