As for a hotel, depends on if you want a top of the splash hotel, or a little bit cheaper one. There is Hotel Bonaventure, also. They own a heated outdoor pool. The thing just about a hotel rooms at Christmas, they are a little bit cheaper, do of the low occupancy. Try to win a hotel that is close at hand the metro, so it will be easier to travel, and if you are using the metro, you won't have to presume about parking.

If you're staying downtown, almost any hotel would be fine. Better hotels would include The Queen Elizabeth, The Ritz, Omni, Novotel, Sofitel. You could also check Le Maritime and Days Inn, Comfort Inn, Hoilday Inn. Google Montreal Hotels and see what's available. You could also rty Tourisme Montréal to see what's on propose.
Cultural events may include Midmight Mass at several of the churches. You could atttend Notre Dame in Old Montreal, or St Joseph's Oratory. Each usually have a Christmas Choir during the Mass, or as an event separate from the Mass and is usually a concert before Christmas.. At Place des Arts, within is a presentation of The Nutcracker.

The Queen Elizabeth is the best choice I reflect.
There is a lot going on. Lots of oil lamp displays, great shopping. Montreal is one of my favourite cities within Canada. Especially the old element. Go down there to great restaurants, outdoor skating, shops.
