I live in Taiwan and need 2 renew my Intl. Driver's License (orig. lics. is KY, USA-expires 2-22). How do I?

My original drivers license is Ky, USA issued and is still current and valid. The International DL (also called a permit) expires this month, Feb 22. I tried to do it online, but the companies I found don't seem to be in business now. Their email was returned. So how do I renew my IDL? thank you.

Answers:
Taiwan DO accept international driver's licenses, but unfortunately you wouldn't be able to renew it on-line.
The reason for that is the fact that the issuing agent has to see the original license in order to verify the authenticity. Even if you already have one, the original can't be verified, as they don't have access to the Taiwanese police' databases to know if your license hasn't been, for some reason, revoked - something that can, and do, happen in Taiwan.
Best is to do the tests to receive a Taiwanese driver's license. If it's for a 50cc scooter, you only need to do a written test (for foreigners the test is done with the help of a computerized system). You wouldn't need a road test. For anything higher that 50cc you will need to do both written and road test.
This license will be valid for the duration of your ARC only, but can be renewed when you receive your new ARC. For long term workers in Taiwan this is definitely the preferred method, as it also makes things a little easier in case of an accident (which you'll hopefully never have to find out first hand!).
So, get to the nearest traffic department and ask for their English version of the Traffic Rules handbook. (And excuse all the grammar and spelling mistakes - at least you can study in English!)

Other answers:
The rules rarely vary when it comes to driver's licences.
There is no such thing as an 'International Driver's Licence'. The rules of the road are different in every country.
Just go to the department of Motor Vehicles for Taiwan, and apply for a driver's licence.
