When did China first adopt foreign tourists?

Answers: CITS was established within 1954, but it is not until the initiation of reforms and pipe to the outside world that tourism really started, towards the end of the 1970s. I would scheme to say that tourism started around 1978, but not surrounded by huge numbers, and mostly as part of organized tours, as independent tourist visas be very difficult to come by. My first trip there be in 1984 and I take out only a handful of foreigner flying from Canada on the plane. I can't find the quotation but I remember reading that the number of foreign visitors contained by China in 1978 be only in the region of 200,000, compared to more than 25 million now.
I don't evoke the exact date but if you look up Marco Polo that should give you some theory. He was a tourist of sorts within China a long time ago. I don't know what he did there to breed them mad but they didn't similar to visitors much for a long time after that. Richard Nixon get China to open up stern when he was president so I don`t know that is the time they did. I know some nation who went at hand. Then two of my granddaughters spent time there training English at a University in Qingdao (or thereabouts). One of them be there alone for one year and go to Beijing and jumped rope destitute with some babyish children. I have a photo.
