fare now to peking from Londn/Manchester cost around lb450 .prices should drop to lb350-lb400 if you skulk till 3 months before travelling.
For the cheapest cheapest bearing, you may try Oasis airline that flys to Hong Kong. Then, find a ticket from Hong Kong or Shenzhen to Beijing. (Shenzhen airport is about 2~3 hours away from Hong Kong Airport by coach bus.)
