Bangkok, Pattaya or elsewhere?
This is kind of three question rolled into one.
1. I am seriously considering a permanent move from UK to Thailand. Which would you recommend relocating to; Bangkok, Pattaya or another city
2. I be told that a 60 day triple entry visa be the best type of visa to get. Is nearby a better type to get ? (I am considering a ongoing relocation)
3. I have a British friend out here who's wife is a Thai national. If I wanted to buy a house (as challenging condo) could I put it in her moniker but with a clause within the contract that states she cannot sell it lacking my written permission, signature and a witnesse's (lawyers) signature ?

Answers: Regarding location - adjectives the places mentioned have pros and cons to living surrounded by them...a lot of UK expats move to Pattaya for the unconcealed "entertainment" but the lifestye is better in my belief in Pattaya as challenging to BKK.
...You will find BKK more expensive to live in.
...the best entity to do is come here on holiday and visit places you are considering to live surrounded by and see for yourself as nobody on this forum can answer this question for you as its personal choice...
Technically you cant "permanently" relocate unless you are ultimately going for PR surrounded by Thailand...and even doing this you will need to be here for at lowest 3 years on visa's before even making the application (and its outstandingly hard to procure PR in Thailand for a UK national)
Dont mull over the consulate in Hull will confer a triple re-entry...
If you are 50 or over...you can come here on a 60 day "O" (you cant find a 90 day - will be 60 days near one 30 day extension) visa..beside a reason self you are "Exploring the possibility of retiring in Thailand" and once here rework it over to a retirement visa...its a lot easier doing this surrounded by Thailand than from overseas as applying for a retirement visa from Hull you will need to capture 'police clearance' from the UK, you may or may not have to do a medical etc.if done surrounded by Thailand all you inevitability is THB 800,000 in a Thai dune for 3 months before you apply (dont involve the medical or police clearance)
As regards buying a house and putting it contained by a friends wifes name.the contract you intend to draw up is vitally "worthless" in Thailand as what you are intending to do is essentially "illegal" as you are doing this to bypass property ownership laws surrounded by Thailand...so even with a "contract" within place, the house would be 100% in her pet name and she can do with it what she requirements...if she sells it out from underneath you...you wouldnt own a leg to stand on legally surrounded by Thailand and the contract draw up is technically invalid..
If you want 100% "cast iron" ownership you can solely buy a condo as this would be legally registered surrounded by your name.adjectives other ways of property ownership in Thailand are done to bypass the law ie set up shelf companies, putting it in a Thai national name etc and adjectives ways have a point of risk involved..ie getting it sold out from under you or a renovate in the companies decree and you could loose the place...
If you really dont want to buy a condo and want to go the "gray" route...you own to understand the risks involved and conceivably only invest money you could possibly lose in the future...
The bottom line is save for a condo, you cannot legally own property or domain in Thailand irrespective of what empire tell you, I would be thinking long and sturdy before putting property within a friends wifes name...

How will you support yourself! If you are over 50 there is a "retirement visa" that you should consider.
If you hold never been to Thailand formerly - visit first beforehand you cut ties back home and stay surrounded by Thailand.
Pattaya is a little cheaper (my opinion) than Bangkok. Lots of expats living surrounded by Pattaya. There are smaller towns that could be cheaper but you would be mostly in the sticks - okay if you are running from the tenet but kind of remote!
You can put a condo surrounded by your own name - but property have to be in Thai's designation. If you put property in your wife's mark she could have you kill and the property would revert to her and her young boyfriend - clause or no clause! Too lots foreigners fall out of window or off balcony or die in some unusual route - leaving everything to their wife or girlfriend!
You can win a free 30 day entry area monopoly in your passport if you want. You can start out Thailand and return and get another free 30 days. There are edges though!

It is not trouble-free to answer this w/o more info - but if you don't know the difference btwn life within bkk, pattaya or elsewhere, I suggest you come and check it all out - in attendance are many various other choices as well... but citizens choose different places here based on personal like and dislikes - beach, cities, mtns, crowded, desolate and adjectives stops in btwn...
Since you don't ask abt work, I don`t know I can assume retirement? Others work out the visa stuff - you will too
you don't need to complicate your vivacity w/buying property - certainly not until you enjoy lived here for a year - - it is not ez to sell property here for foreigners - - not a ordinary market contained by Western terms.. but know the bazaar before you buy - - don't engineer Western assumptions - - biz does not always run equal way here - - buying within your friend's wife's name - in good health, that sounds like another crazy story waiting to surface - -
Rentals in several places can be quite probable and you might make out better near wise investment choices and the interest sour of which might pay your rent instead of buying...
but these are adjectives really personal decisions and you must spend some time here previously making any judgments - some peope love it at first and later get somewhat tired of Thai logic and Thai ways...
Have you been here formerly? If not I dont recommend even considering moving here until you know more about this country and it visa rules and ownership rights. If your over 50 and hold income from pension of 65,000 baht a month or 800,000 you can lately transfer to a Thai guard and leave it at hand you could be able to bring a retirement visa and extend it very year for as long as you close to. There are other was you should check the pattern site of the Thai embassy in your country for more option. I am not going to recommend places to say that your choice that's one idea you should come and visit. As for a home, you can own the home you a moment ago can't own the property. So this women could have the title to the property and you lease it from her on a 30 year lease. After that you can lease an extra time for another 30 years. Lots of laws here your obligation a get more support from a lawyer. First come and stop by and see if you like it.
